Ampersand Advocates' Clerk

Alan Moffat heads up the clerking team. In his dual role of Advocates' Clerk and Practice Manager he ensures that the clerking team runs smoothly and provides a quality service to Ampersand's customers.

He has been with the stable since 2000 - initially as our deputy clerk. He came to us having worked at the Scottish Legal Aid Board for 6 years. He has worked in the legal profession throughout his whole career.

Alan holds paralegal certificates in civil court practice and criminal law. He is also studying for a law degree part-time. This provides him with a unique perspective as an Advocates' Clerk and assists him to understand the needs of those instructing counsel.
