Summary

Having practiced extensively in criminal and civil law, Lisa Henderson now has a predominantly civil practice specialising in Personal Injury Litigation. She acts on behalf of individual pursuers - including those funded via legal aid, trade unions or on a speculative basis - defenders, insurers, local authorities and professional bodies.

Experience

Lisa Henderson has considerable experience in all aspects of personal injury claims particularly catastrophic injury claims, employers' liability including: claims involving vibration white finger, exposure to asbestos, stress at work, upper limb disorders and manual handling claims. She has also been involved in many claims involving exposure to contaminated blood products.

Lisa has acted for the defenders in high value solicitors' and architects negligence claims

She is regularly instructed in cases involving all forms of clinical negligence with particular experience in cerebral palsy claims.

She has experience in judicial review and in particular in advising on claims under the Police Pensions Regulations

• Fallan v Lanarkshire Health Board 1997 SLT 902 - employers liability- low mechanical back pain caused by manual handling of laundry.
• Morrison v Safeway Stores COSOH 15 January 1999 - employer's liability- whether repetitive kneeling whilst stacking shelves caused injury to pursuer's knee.
• George Smillie v Lothian & Borders Police Board [2005] CSOH 140 - judicial review of refusal by medical referee to include an injury award in the petitioner's police pension
• Taylor v Sands [2006] CSOH 186 - interim damages and residential accommodation
• Veronica Dineley v Lothian Health Board [2007] CSOH 154 - Medical negligence-cerebral palsy. Quantum agreed at ?3.8 million. Whether use of Kiellands forceps negligent in the circumstances

Seminars

Lisa Henderson has presented seminars to members of the legal profession on a number of topics including quantification in personal injury claims and written pleadings. She has addressed other professions on relevant legal matters such as legal aspects of manual handling for nursing and physiotherapy practitioners. Lisa is founder and director of Iusful Events Ltd, a company which provides CPD to lawyers and other professionals. She is involved in organising seminars for 2008 on the following topics: Catastrophic injuries in children, the Gill reforms, Bankruptcy restriction orders, the new Companies Act and clinical negligence.
